Description:
The goal of the thesis was to investigate and define a cost efficient approach towards implementing body language, or gesture recognition, as a method in human-computer interaction.

The task included development of a limited domain sign language as well as implementing a prototype in Java as proof of concept.

The thesis resulted in SignWiiver, a gesture recognition system that allows a user to communicate with a computer by performing gestures with an accelerometer. A  Nintendo Wii™-remote is used as an accelerometer.

Bachelor’s thesis in language technology, in collaboration with the language technology educational programme at Gothenburg University.
